The Dolly Partons have continued to raise millions for the Dolly and Bennie Partson Foundation, even as the charity continues to struggle financially.
The Dolly partons have donated nearly $50 million to the charity over the past three years, with the bulk of the funds coming from their record-breaking hit single, “Dolly.”
According to the Dollywood News website, the Dopey Foundation raised about $3.5 million in the first three months of 2017, with nearly half coming from ticket sales alone.
The foundation’s most recent fundraising goal was $10 million.
It has raised about 1.5 times that amount, but it still trails behind its $100 million goal.
In the first quarter of 2018, the foundation raised more than $10.3 million.
The organization is hoping to hit that goal for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
It’s not clear whether or not the DPOE will continue to have enough money to maintain its mission, but the charity has been doing some fundraising to help support other charities, including the American Red Cross.
